Fallout 3 is an action role-playing game released by Bethesda Game Studios, and is the third major game in the Fallout series. The game was released in North America on October 28, 2008, in Europe and Australia on October 30, 2008, and in the United Kingdom and Ireland on October 31, 2008.[4] The video game is available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles as well as the Windows operating system.

Fallout 3 takes place in the year 2277, 36 years after the setting of Fallout 2 and 200 years after the nuclear war that devastated the game's world in an alternate post-World War II timeline.[11] The game places the player in the role of an inhabitant of Vault 101, a survival shelter designed to protect a small number of humans from the nuclear fallout. When the player's father disappears under mysterious circumstances, the player is forced to escape from the Vault and journey into the ruins of Washington D.C. to track him down. Along the way the player is assisted by a number of other human survivors and must battle myriad enemies that now inhabit the wasteland. The game has an attribute and combat system typical of an action role-playing game but also incorporates elements of first-person shooter and survival horror games.

Following its release, Fallout 3 has received very positive responses from critics who praised in particular the game's open-ended gameplay and flexible character-levelling system. The NPD Group estimated that Fallout 3 sold over 610,000 units during its initial month of release in October 2008, outselling Bethesda Softworks' previous game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which sold nearly 500,000 units in its first month.

The game picks up where Escape from Butcher Bay left off. Richard B. Riddick is a dangerous space criminal who can see in the dark. Johns, the man who originally took Riddick to the Butcher Bay prison for a bounty, helped him escape to avoid becoming a prisoner himself. On their ship together in a cryonic sleep, they are dragged unwillingly into the Dark Athena, a gigantic mercenary vessel ran by Gale Revas and her second in command, Skinner. Riddick avoids capture as Revas and her men take Johns away. Using the same stealth tactics as he did in Butcher Bay, Riddick sneaks and hides throughout the ship seeking to escape, killing the guards and Mercs he encounters along the way. Many of the guards are automated drones that are human bodies with implanted machine parts, controlled remotely from within the ship.

He meets with a little girl named Lynn who is hiding from the guards in the air vent systems. Riddick makes his way to the prison cells and finds several people captured, including the former Captain of the Dark Athena before Revas took control. There he meets Lynn's mother, Alicia Silverman. She offers to make Riddick the tools he needs to escape through the air vents if he can get the right parts. She also asks to find Lynn because she is concerned for her safety. Another prisoner named Dacher (voiced by Lance Henrickson) offers his technical skills to help Riddick escape on a ship and unlock doors for him if Riddick can find him a comlink. He agrees and finds the comlink for Dacher and the parts for Silverman. Having again met with Lynn, Silverman keeps her word and makes him the tool he needs. Riddick moves on and is in contact with Dacher via video communication at computer terminals on the ship. Riddick frees the prisoners but most are killed, including Lynn's mother Silverman. Revas kiils Dacher as he prepared the ship for their escape. Riddick finally meets Revas face to face. As they fight, he wounds her severely and she is thought to be dead. As he is preparing an escape pod to take off, Lynn is pounding on the door begging to take her with him. Revas, who is still alive as Riddick's pod takes off, fires a missile that hits the pod, causing it to crash on the planet Aguerra below.

Riddick wakes up on the shore of a beach (the same beach seen in the introductory tutorial level) and he makes his way into an abandoned city. The planet is under siege from Revas' troops who are killing all the civillians and harvesting their bodies to use for their drones. Riddick realizes his only way off the planet is to get back on the Dark Athena again. He makes his way through the city and back to the port where the Athena is docked. Skinner attacks Riddick in a robotic mech suit but is defeated. He gets back onto the Dark Athena and meets Lynn again. She tells Riddick her mother taught her how to make the drones turn on Revas' crew and attack them instead. Fighting ensues on the ship between the drones and the mercs. He makes his way up the ship and Riddick meets with Revas again, who is in a suit of armor with heavy weapons. He defeats her by pushing her into an elevator shaft and she falls to her death. Lynn meets up with him and they are seen going into the elevator. She asks him if Revas is coming back, and Riddick answers "When I say goodbye, it's forever". Then the credits roll.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard - 01-27-2009, 10:32 AM Dragonshard is the first game set in the new Dungeons & Dragons world of Eberron, now I haven't played D&D for many years or followed it's evolution much, so I can't comment on it's authenticity, but we do get treated to a kick ass intro movie which goes a long way to setting the scene. These little CG movies must cost a fortune but I do love them. It's also the first D&D RTS game ever, the Dungeons and Dragons universe probably lends itself more to roleplaying titles after all, indeed Dragonshard does have RPG elements but we'll get to that later no doubt. Many moons ago, lots of games had their own custom installers, but until Dragonshard, I hadn't seen one for years. It's also in much the same style as the games menu system. I guess it's like some sort of magically powered machine. Nice idea, but generally I do other things while games are installing, so it was more of an inconvenience than anything else. Dragonshard certainly doesn't offend, but neither does it massively excite, it's a solid fantasy based real time strategy with many D&D style RPG elements that's actually quite good fun to play. The story isn't completely stupid and campaign mode plays well with many side quests added to each mission, although the campaigns is a bit short for my liking. It also has an extremely thorough group of tutorial missions that will set up even the most novice of strategy gamers for the task ahead. Hardcore RTS players might find it a touch limited in places, mainly with base building and defense, but it is quite easy to pick up and play and there certainly is some depth here too, I guess that's the sign of a well made game, easy to play, hard to master. I can't really criticise Dragonshard, there's just isn't anything really wrong with it. What I would say is that while I have very much enjoyed playing Dragonshard, I never really got totally sucked in. It's hard to explain, this is a very, very good game that's very well made, it's just not a brilliant one. Well worth it's price tag though, especially if your a fan of Dungeons & Dragons. It has the West Coast and Small Apple levels, all the previous two games' cab drivers, the same frantic action, and the minigames from Crazy Taxi 2. That sounds like a lot of good stuff, but unfortunately, that's about all there is. If you're a huge fan of Crazy Taxi, or if you've never played any of the previous games, you may find a lot to like about Crazy Taxi 3--if nothing else, it's a compilation of the previous two games that improves upon those games' maps and gameplay.
